COMPATIBILITY
Do I need Microsoft Project installed?
No. MPP Studio reads and writes .mpp files itself. There is no Project install, no Java runtime and no conversion step.
Which versions of Microsoft Project are supported?
MPP Studio opens and saves .mpp files from Microsoft Project 2010 through Microsoft 365.
Will my colleagues be able to open the files I save?
Yes. Files saved by MPP Studio open in Microsoft Project as they should, so you can send the schedule straight back to the office.
What is kept when I save?
Tasks, outline, links, calendars, resources, assignments, baselines, notes, custom fields and their names, and the Gantt view’s columns all round-trip with Microsoft Project.
Can I create a new project from scratch?
Yes. Choose File › New (⌘N). New schedules are saved as .mpp files.
Project Online has been retired. Can I keep working on my plans?
Microsoft retired Project Online on 30 September 2026. If you have your plans as .mpp files, MPP Studio opens and edits them on Mac and iPad, with no Microsoft cloud service needed.
MAC AND IPAD
What do I need to run MPP Studio?
A Mac with macOS 27, or an iPad with iPadOS 27.
Is there an iPhone version?
No. MPP Studio is designed for Mac and iPad, where a Gantt chart has the room it needs.
Can I open files from iCloud Drive, OneDrive or a shared folder?
Yes. MPP Studio opens files wherever the Files app or Finder can reach them, and saves them in place.
Does MPP Studio work offline?
Yes. Everything happens on your device, so you can track progress on site with no signal.
PLANNING AND TRACKING
What does Lock Plan do?
It saves the current schedule as the baseline and locks the plan. Actual start, actual finish and % complete stay editable, so you can keep recording progress and saving.
Can I unlock the plan again?
Yes. Choose Unlock Plan… in the toolbar or the View menu.
How is the forecast worked out?
From the actual dates and % complete you record, with the remaining work rescheduled through the links. The sidebar compares it with the baseline.
How do I see the critical path?
It is drawn in red by default. Turn it off or on with ⇧⌘C.
PRIVACY AND PURCHASE
Does MPP Studio collect any data?
Only anonymous usage statistics: which features are used and how the app performs, never your files, their names or what is in them. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking across apps, and you can turn the statistics off in Settings. Your files never leave your device unless you save them somewhere yourself.
How much does MPP Studio cost?

Is MPP Studio affiliated with Microsoft?
No. MPP Studio is an independent app. Microsoft Project is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
